The Shawinigan Cataractes remain unbeaten at 2022 Memorial Cup in Saint John, New Brunswick. On Thursday, the Cataractes improved to a record of two wins and zero losses following a 3-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The Cataractes hero in this game was Olivier Nadeau of Lac-Etchemin, Quebec. Nadeau scored the game-winning goal at 7:06 of the third period from Mavrik Bourque of Plessisville, Quebec and Xavier Bourgault of L’Islet, Quebec on the power play to break a 2-2 tie.

It was also a strong game for Bourque and Bourgault, as they led the Cataractes in scoring with three points each (one goal and two assists). Nadeau meanwhile also had a multi-point game (one goal and one assist for two points).

This was also a bit of a chippy affair. There were a total of 34 minutes in penalties, and four of the five goals were scored on the power-play.

The Cataractes opened the tournament with a 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Tuesday. The Bulldogs meanwhile lost their first game by a score of 5-3 to the hosts, Saint John Sea Dogs, and now find themselves desperate on Friday night. Hamilton will be playing Edmonton with the winner reaching the semifinals. There will be no tie-breaker this year.
