Colorado Avalanche goaltender Scott Wedgewood of Brampton, Ontario recorded his seventh career National Hockey League shutout on Sunday. He accomplished the feat in a 4-0 Avalanche win over the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Wedgewood made 25 saves overall. He made 10 saves in the first period, two saves in the second period, and 13 saves in the third period. Jack Hughes, the brother of Vancouver Canucks star defenseman Quinn Hughes, had six shots on net to lead New Jersey.
Offensively, defenseman Calvin due Haan of Carp, Ontario led the Avalanche with two points as he had two assists. The Canadians who scored for the Avalanche were Parker Kelly of Camrose, Alberta, and Logan O’Connor, who was raised in Calgary, Alberta, even though he was born in Missouri City, Texas.
On the season, Wedgewood has a record of three wins, three regulation losses, and one loss in extra time. He has a goals against average of 2.82 and a save percentage of .906. Wedgewood shared his time this season with the Avalanche and Nashville Predators. Of Wedgwood’s seven NHL shutouts, three have been three with the Devils, two with the Dallas Stars, and one each with the Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes.
With the win, the Avalanche improve to a record of 16 wins and 13 losses for 32 points. They lead the Calgary Flames by one point for a playoff spot.
