The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies improved to a record of one win and one loss on Monday at the 2019 Memorial Cup from the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Huskies defeated the Prince Albert Raiders 6-3 in the Canadian Hockey League championship.

Four Huskies players had multi-point games. Tyler Hinam of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia notched two goals, while Noah Dobson of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Joel Teasdale of Lavaltrie, Quebec and Felix Bibeau of Mercier, Quebec had one goal and one assist for two points. The other Huskies goal scorer was Peter Abbandonato of Laval, Quebec.

The loss for the Raiders means they have zero more margin of error. They need to beat the Ontario Hockey League champion Guelph Storm on Tuesday evening or they are eliminated from the tournament.

The Huskies meanwhile are now in third place and guaranteed themselves at least a game in a possible tie-breaker on Thursday. The Storm also have a record of one win and one loss, but have second place at the moment because they beat the Huskies 5-2 on Saturday.

The first place team at the moment are the host team, the Halifax Mooseheads. With a record of two wins and zero losses, the Mooseheads could have advanced directly to the final if Prince Albert had beaten Rouyn-Noranda on Monday night. That did not happen and now the Mooseheads may have to beat the Huskies on Wednesday to go to Sunday’s final.
