Day two of the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario saw a record breaking performance by Team Quebec’s Laurie St-Georges on Saturday. In an 8-2 win over Manitoba’s Kaitlyn Lawes, the native of Laval set a Canadian Women’s Curling Championship record for most stolen ends in a game with seven as St-Georges stole one point in the first, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh ends, before stealing two points in the eighth end.

Two curling teams had the previous record with six stolen ends. According to Vic Rauter of TSN, Manitoba’s Jacki Rintoul of Portage La Prairie accomplished the feat in a 9-1 win over Saskatchewan on February 27, 1985, and it was repeated by New Brunswick’s Heidi Hanlon of Saint John in an 11-1 win over Alberta on March 2, 1987.

We also saw an unbelievable comeback on Saturday in the evening draw. Team Alberta’s Kayla Skrlik of Calgary was down 6-2 after four ends before coming back to beat Team British Columbia’s Corryn Brown 9-8. The key end was the eighth end as Skrlik stole three points to take an 8-7 lead.

There are currently seven undefeated teams after two days of competition. In Pool A, they are Skrlik, Team Canada’s Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario, and Saskatchewan’s Nancy Martin of Rosetown at 2-0. In Pool B, they are the Manitoba teams of Kate Cameron of Winnipeg and Kerri Einarson of Gimli, St. Georges, and Nova Scotia’s Christina Black of Halifax. Black has now won 14 straight matches.
