Two Canadians are in contention after 36 holes of the 2019 Royal Bank of Canada Canadian Open from the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario. Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba is one shot off the lead at -11 and Adam Hadwin of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan is three strokes off the lead at -9.

The leaders at the present time are Americans Scott Brown of Augusta, Georgia (home of the Masters) and Matt Kuchar of Winter Park, Florida. Both Brown and Kuchar are at -12. Kuchar has won twice since November. He won the Mayakoba Golf Classic in Mexico this past November and then the Sony Open in Hawaii in January. Kuchar has not won a major, but has won the 2012 Players Championship, the 2013 World Matchplay Golf Championship and won the bronze medal for the United States at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Taylor is tied with American Brandt Snedeker of Nashville, Tennessee. It was quite the second round for Snedeker, as he shot a 10-under par 60. It was only the third time in the history of the Canadian Open that a male golfer shot 10-under par for a round. The others were Greg Norman of Australia in 1986 and Carl Pettersson of Sweden in 2010.

The lone golfer two strokes back in fifth place is American Webb Simpson of Raleigh, North Carolina. Simpson is best known for winning the 2012 United States Open.

There were four other Canadians to make the cut. They were Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas, Ontario (-8), Ben Silverman of Thornhill, Ontario (-8), Richard Jung of Toronto, Ontario (-4) and Roger Sloan of Calgary, Alberta (-2).
