Mike Weir, Dr. Frank Hayden and Danielle Campo honoured by Canada’s Walk of Fame

Three more Canadian sports people are being honoured by the Canada’s Walk of Fame in Toronto. According to newswire.ca, Dr. Frank J. Hayden and Danielle Campo were recognized on Wednesday night at Toronto’s Liberty Grand. Meanwhile, Mike Weir will be honoured in 2025.

Hayden of Windsor, Ontario, is being recognized for his work with the Special Olympics movement. He was the Special Olympics Executive Director from 1968 to 1972. Campo of Windsor won three gold medals for Canada in swimming at the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney. Diagnosed with spinal muscular dystrophy, Campo won the gold medal in the women’s 50 metre freestyle, and women’s 100 metre freestyle in the s7 classification. She was also part of the Canadian team that won gold in the women’s 4×100 metre freestyle 34 points alongside Jessica Sloan of Calgary, Alberta, Andrea Cole of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and Stephanie Dixon of Brampton, Ontario.
