Maxence Parrot of Cowansville, Quebec has won the bronze medal for Canada in the men’s big air snowboarding. On Tuesday at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing (Monday evening in Canada), Parrot posted a score of 170.25 points for his third career Olympic medal. He previously won gold in the men’s slopestyle snowboarding at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing and silver in the men’s slopestyle snowboarding at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

In the Olympic men’s big air final, Parrot reached the podium by four points over Hiroaki Kunitake of Japan, who had a score of 166.25 points. Su Yiming of China won the gold medal with a score of 182.5 points and Mons Roisland of Norway won the silver medal with a score of 171.75 points.

It has simply been a fantastic Olympic Winter Games for Parrot, when you consider the fact he was diagnosed with cancer in 2019. But the bronze medal should not have come as much of a surprise, as Parrot won the gold medal at the 2020 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado, and a silver medal at the 2021 World Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding Championships, also in Aspen.

Team Canada has now won 16 medals (one gold medal, four silver medals and 11 bronze medals), and are tied with Austria and the United States for the third most at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Norway leads with 23 medals and the Russian Olympic Committee is second with 19 medals.
