Mark McMorris and Amy Fraser win 2024 Winter X Games medals

Amy Fraser of Halifax, Nova Scotia won the bronze medal on Saturday in the women’s skiing superpipe and Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Mark McMorris of Regina, Saskatchewan won the silver medal in the men’s slopestyle snowboarding at the 2024 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. For Fraser, it was her first Winter X Games medal of her career. Meanwhile, McMorris has now won 23 Winter X Games medals (11 gold medals, nine silver medals and three bronze medals).

Fraser posted a score of 90 points. Eileen Gu of China won the gold medal with a score of 95.66 points. Zoe Atkin of the United States won the silver medal with a score of 90.66 points. Fraser reached the podium by 2.67 points. Svea Irving of the United States finished in fourth place with a score of 87.33 points.

This was the second Winter X Games for Fraser. Last year in the women’s skiing superpipe, Fraser finished in fourth place.

McMorris posted a score of 95.33 points. Red Gerard of the United States won the gold medal with 96.33 points. Mons Roisland of Norway won the bronze medal with 92.66 points. McMorris reached the podium by 5.33 points over Sven Thorgren of Sweden, who had 90 points. McMorris has won three Olympic bronze medals in his career. He placed third in the men’s slopestyle at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang and the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

Fraser and McMorris were two of five medals for Canada at the Winter X Games Other Canadians to medal at the 2024 Winter X Games were Liam Brearley of Gravenhurst, Ontario (gold, men’s snowboard knuckle huck), Darcy Sharpe of Calgary, Alberta (bronze, men’s snowboard knuckle huck), and Olivia Asselin of Quebec City, Quebec (gold, women’s skiing knuckle huck). The medals for Fraser and McMorris will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
