Marc-Andre Fleury records his 75th career NHL shutout

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Marc-Andre Fleury of Sorel, Quebec recorded his 75th career National Hockey League shutout on Thursday. He accomplished the feat by making 16 saves in a 2-0 Minnesota Wild win over the Anaheim Ducks at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Fleury had seven saves in the first period, only two saves in the second period, and seven saves in the third period. Ryan Strome of Mississauga, Ontario, defenseman Ollen Zellweger of Calgary, Alberta and Pavol Regenda led the Ducks with two shots on goal each.

Of Fleury’s 75 NHL shutouts, 44 have been with the Pittsburgh Penguins, 23 have been with the Vegas Golden Knights, and four each with the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks. In 2023-24, Fleury has a record of 16 wins, 11 regulation losses and three losses in extra time, with two shutouts. He has a goals against average of 2.70 and a save percentage of .904. Fleury’s other shutout this season came in a 5-0 Wild win over the New York Islanders on January 15.

With the win, the Wild improve to a record of 33 wins, 27 regulation losses, and seven losses in extra time for 73 points. They are four points back of the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights for a playoff spot.
