Laurie Blouin wins silver at a World Cup women’s slopestyle snowboarding event in California

Canadian Olympic silver medalist Laurie Blouin of Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury, Quebec won a silver medal in a World Cup women’s slopestyle snowboarding competition in Mammoth Mountain, California on Saturday. For Blouin, who won the silver medal in women’s slopestyle snowboarding at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, it was her seventh career World Cup medal and second this season. She also won a bronze medal in women’s big air snowboarding in Beijing, China on December 14.

In Mammoth Mountain on Saturday, Blouin posted a score of 76.16 points. She reached the podium by 11.86 points over Hanne Eilertsen of Norway, who was in fourth place with a score of 64.3 points. Jamie Anderson of the United States won the gold medal with 83.4 points and Katie Ormerod of Great Britain won the bronze medal with a score of 75.83 points.

Blouin is currently in second place in the women’s slopestyle snowboarding World Cup standings with 1200 points. Ormerod leads with 2000 points.

The event in Mammoth Mountain was the third of five World Cup slopestyle snowboarding events in 2019-20. In the men’s slopestyle snowboarding competition in Mammoth Mountain on Saturday, Dusty Henricksen of the United States won the gold medal. The next stop for the world’s best slopestyle snowboarders will be a World Cup at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta on February 16. The silver medal for Blouin in Mammoth will give her confidence as she prepares for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
