Jordan Romano named American League reliever of the month again

For the second time this season, Toronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano of Markham, Ontario has been named the American League reliever of the month. According to Rogers Sportsnet on Tuesday, he pitched 10 games and 10 2/3 innings of work, with a record of one win and zero losses, a fantastic earned run average of 0.84 with 12 strikeouts and seven saves.

Romano beat the Kansas City Royals 6-5 on July 16. He also picked up saves in a 2-1 Blue Jays win over the Oakland Athletics on July 6, in a 4-3 Blue Jays win over the Philadelphia Phillies on July 12, in a 4-2 Blue Jays win over the Royals on July 17, in a 4-1 Blue Jays win over the Boston Red Sox on July 23, in a 5-3 Blue Jays win over the Detroit Tigers on July 28, in a 5-3 Blue Jays win over the Tigers on July 30, and in a 4-1 Blue Jays win over the Tigers on July 31.

The first time Romano was the American League reliever of the month was April. In the first month of the year, he had a record of one win, one loss, 10 saves and an earned run average of 1.59.

On the season, Romano has pitched in 40 games and has a record of three wins and two losses with an earned run average of 2.50 and a WHIP of 1.06. An all-star for the first time, he has 44 strikeouts and has given up 28 hits, 11 earned runs, and 14 walks in 39 2/3 innings of work.
