Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta, and Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Brett Gallant of St. John’s, Newfoundland will represent Canada at the 2022 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships in Geneva, Switzerland. The tournament will take place from April 23-30.

Canada is in a field alongside Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, the United States, China, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, England, Hungary, and Japan. Russia has been barred from competing at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships after the country invaded Ukraine last week according to NBC Sports. We do not know at this time who will replace Russia in the tournament or if the World Curling Federation will only have a 15-team tournament.

Gallant won a bronze medal for Canada in men’s curling at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing alongside skip Brad Gushue, third Mark Nichols, and lead Geoff Walker. He also won a silver medal with Peterman, his fiancee, at the 2019 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Stavanger, Norway.

It should be noted that Peterman and Gallant were chosen to represent Team Canada for the 2022 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships by Curling Canada. In previous years, the winner of the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championships represented Canada at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships. However, this year the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championships were cancelled due to coronavirus.
