Brooke Henderson in contention at 2022 HSBC Women’s World Championship

Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario is in contention after the second round of the 2022 HSBC Women’s World Championship in Sentosa, Singapore. After 36 holes, Henderson is at seven-under-par, and only stroke back of South Koreans Jin-young Ko and Amy Yang.

Ko, the two-time major champion, and Yang are both at -8. Ko won the 2019 ANA Inspiration in Rancho Mirage, California, and the 2019 Evian Masters. Henderson is a major champion from the past too, as she won the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship in Seattle.

In the first round in Singapore, Henderson posted a score of -3 after having five birdies and two bogeys. She birdied the eighth, 12th, 13th, 15th, and 16th holes, and bogeyed the third and 11th holes.

In the second round, Henderson posted a score of -4 after having five birdies and one bogey. She birdied the third, fifth, eighth, 12th, and 16th holes, and bogeyed the ninth hole.

Henderson is in a three-way tie for second alongside Megan Khang of the United States and Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand. Those at -6, and two stroke back, are South Koreans A Lim Kim, In Gee Chun, and Pajaree Anannarukarn of Thailand. Those at -5, and three strokes back, are South Korea’s Inbee Park, Americans Danielle Khang and Yealimi Noh, and Australia’s Su-Hyun Oh.
