Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jamie Benn of Victoria, British Columbia notched his seventh carer National Hockey League hat trick on Saturday. He scored Dallas’s final three goals of the game in a 6-2 Stars win over the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place in Edmonton. Benn won a gold medal for Canada at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Benn put the Stars up 4-1 at 15:27 of the second period from Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen. He then put the Stars up 5-2 from Heiskanen and Roope Hintz at 4:01 of the third period. Benn’s first two goals were on the power-play. Benn then put the Stars up 6-2 to close out the scoring at 12:33 of the third period from Ty Dellandrea of Toronto, Ontario and Ryan Suter.

Benn was one of two Canadians to score for the Stars. The other was Colin Miller of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Benn, who is the Stars captain, has spent his entire NHL career with the Stars. His prior hat tricks came in a 4-1 Stars win over the St. Louis Blues on February 17, 2015, in a 4-1 Stars win over the Nashville Predators on April 11, 2015, in a 4-2 Stars win over the San Jose Sharks on April 3, 2018, in a 4-2 Stars win over the Los Angeles Kings on April 7, 2018, in a 4-1 Stars win over the Blues on March 2, 2019, and in a 4-1 Stars win over the Carolina Hurricanes on February 11, 2020.
