
Canadian Olympic bronze medalist James Crawford of Toronto, Ontario won a World Cup men’s super giant slalom silver medal in Kvitfjell, Norway on Sunday. For Crawford, it was his sixth World Cup medal of his career.
Crawford posted a second place time of 1:09.36. Dominik Paris of Italy won the gold medal with a time of 1:08.98. Miha Hrobat of Slovenia won the bronze medal with a time of 109.45. Crawford reached the podium by a tenth of a second. Marco Odermatt of Switzerland was in fourth place with a time of 1:09.46.
Crawford’s first World Cup alpine skiing medal was a silver medal in the men’s super giant slalom in Kvitfjell on March 6, 2022. His other four World Cup medals have been in downhill (bronze in Beaver Creek, Colorado on December 3, 2022, silver in Bormio, Italy on December 28, 2022, silver in Aspen, Colorado on March 4, 2023, and gold in Kitzbuehel, Austria on January 25, 2025).
In the World Cup men’s super giant slalom standings, Crawford is ninth with 182 points. Odermatt leads with 491 points.
This was the seventh of eight World Cup men’s super giant slalom races this season. The eighth is in Sun Valley, Idaho on March 23.
Crawford won the bronze medal in men’s combined at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. The silver medal in Norway will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
