Canadian Olympic silver medalist Eliot Grondin of St-Romuald, Quebec won the bronze medal in a World Cup men’s snowboard cross event in Gudauri, Georgia on Saturday. This was the sixth of 10 World Cup men’s snowboard cross races this season.

Grondin placed behind gold medalist Jakob Dusek of Austria and silver medalist Adam Lambert of Australia. In an interesting big final, Grondin reached the podium even though he crashed according to CBC Sports. Grondin won the bronze medal because it was determined that Elias Leitner of Austria, who also fell in the big final, caused Grondin to fall. Leitner had fallen backwards on the final jump, and into Grondin’s path.

After seven World Cup races in men’s snowboard cross this season, Grondin leads with 464 points. Dusek is second with 319 points. There are three more World Cup men’s snowboard cross events this season. They are in Montafon, Austria on March 9 and in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec on April 5 and 6.

In his career, Grondin has now won 23 World Cup medals. He has won 12 gold medals, six silver medals and five bronze medals.

Grondin won his Olympic silver medal in men’s snowboard cross at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. Grondin’s bronze medal in Gudauri, Georgia, will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
