Jamal Murray makes longest shot of his NBA career

Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray of Kitchener, Ontario made the longest shot of his National Basketball Association career on Sunday. Right before halftime in a 115-107 Nuggets win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, he made a 55-foot, three-point buzzer beater. At the time, the Nuggets went up 64-49. With the win, the Nuggets and Timberwolves are tied at two games apiece in the Western Conference semifinals.

This was also the longest shot made in the NBA playoffs since New Orleans small forward Darius Miller of Maysville, Kentucky made a 72 foot three-point shot in a first half buzzer beater in a 123-101 Pelicans loss to the Golden State Warriors on April 28, 2018 in game two of the 2018 Western Conference Semifinals. The longest playoff shot ever made was by Magic Johnson of Lansing, Michigan. He made an 84 foot shot on April 23, 1987 in a 128-95 Lakers win over the Denver Nuggets on April 23, 1987 in game one of the Western Conference first round series.

Murray made three three-point shots in seven attempts on Sunday. He also made eight of 17 field goals for 19 points overall. Murray had eight assists, five rebounds and two steals. So far in the 2024 NBA Playoffs, Murray is averaging 20.7 points per game, 6.1 assists per game, and 5.1 rebounds per game. He also has a field goal percentage of .400, a three-point percentage of .315, and a free throw percentage of .895.
