Golden Knights sign left winger Tanner Pearson

According to Rogers Sportsnet on Friday, the Vegas Golden Knights have signed left winger Tanner Pearson of Kitchener, Ontario. The terms of the contract are for one year, and $775,000.

Pearson is joining his fifth National Hockey League franchise. He previously played for the Los Angeles Kings (2013 to 2019), Pittsburgh Penguins (2018 to 2019), Vancouver Canucks (2019 to 2023), and Montreal Canadiens (2023 to 2024).

Last season in Montreal, Pearson had five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 54 games with the Canadiens. He was a -12 with 21 penalty minutes, two power-play points, one game-winning goal, 77 shots on goal, five faceoff wins, 35 blocked shots, 50 hits, 15 takeaways, and 25 giveaways.

Pearson’s game-winning goal came on February 27 in a 4-2 Canadiens win over the Arizona Coyotes. Pearson scored from Jake Evans of Toronto, Ontario and Jordan Harris at 5:14 of the third period. At the time, the Canadiens went up 3-1.

Pearson is also a Stanley Cup champion. He was part of the Kings team that won hockey’s biggest prize in 2014. In the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals, the Kings beat the New York Rangers four games to one. In the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Pearson had four goals and four assists for eight points in 17 games.

At the 2012 NHL Draft, Pearson was a first round pick. He was selected 30th overall by the Kings after playing his junior career with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League.
