Canadian Freddie Freeman once again came up huge in game two of the 2024 World Series. On Saturday in a 4-2 Dodgers win over the New York Yankees, Freeman was one of three Dodgers players to go deep with a home run. He was joined by Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez.
Freeman and Edman had solo home runs. Hernandez, who is a former Toronto Blue Jay, hit a two run home run. Freeman’s home run was 401 feet, and came off of Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon. The dinger put the Dodgers up 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
This was Freeman’s only hit in game two. In the 2024 Major League Baseball postseason, Freeman is batting .244 with two home runs and six runs batted in. During 10 games and 41 at bats, he scored three runs, and had 10 hits, 18 total bases, one triple, one walk, and one stolen base, along with an on base percentage of .262, and a slugging percentage of .439.
Freeman’s game two home run was significant, but his game one home run would be considered iconic. He became the first player ever to hit a walkoff grand slam in World Series history. The 2024 World Series now shifts to New York. Game three of the series is on Monday.
