Felix Auger-Aliassime wins 2025 Open Occitanie

Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Felix Auger-Aliassime of Montreal, Quebec returned to the country this past week where he won the bronze medal with Gabriel Dabrowski of Ottawa, Ontario in mixed doubles at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. For the seventh time in his career, Auger-Aliassime was victorious on the ATP Tour as he won the 2025 Open Occitanie in Montpellier.

Auger-Aliassime defeated American Aleksandar Kovacevic in the final, 6-2, 6-7, 7-6. He won the third set tiebreak by a score of 7-2.

The serve was a key statistic in the match. Auger-Aliassime had 19 aces compared to seven for Kovacevic. Auger-Aliassime also only had one double fault compared to two for Kovacevic. Auger-Aliassime broke Kovacevic twice in the first set, and only allowed Kovacevic to have one break point opportunity the entire match.

This was the fourth time Auger-Aliassime was in an ATP Final in France. The previous three times Auger-Aliassime lost. He was defeated 6-4, 6-3 by Benoit Paire of France in the final of Lyon in May of 2019, 6-3, 6-4 by Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in the final of Marseille in February of 2020, and 7-5, 7-6 by Andrey Rublev of Russia in the final of Marseille in 2022.

Next up for Auger-Aliassime is Rotterdam, an event he won in 2022. In the first round on Tuesday, he will be up against Italian Andrea Vavassori. This is their first meeting head-to-head.
