According to cfl.ca on Sunday, the Edmonton Elks have signed defensive back Tyrell Ford of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Tyrell Ford is the twin brother of Elks quarterback Tre Ford.

Tyrell Ford played the last two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 2024, he played 18 games and had 51 defensive tackles, four special team tackles and seven interceptions. The seven interceptions were the second most in the Canadian Football League this past season. The only player with more interceptions was Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Rolan Milligan, who had eight.

Ford’s most memorable game in 2024 was the Banjo Bowl. On September 7, 2024, he had two interceptions in a 26-21 Blue Bombers win over the Roughriders.

In two CFL seasons, Ford has 54 defensive tackles, 14 special team tackles, and seven interceptions. He was a CFL All-Star in 2024.

Ford was a second round pick, 13th overall in the 2022 CFL Draft by the Blue Bombers. He played his university career for the Waterloo Warriors.

Over the last three seasons, Ford had two separate stints with Winnipeg. In 2023, he signed a reserve contract with the Green Bay Packers, but was released before the season started.

The Elks had a bitterly disappointing start to their 2024 season. They lost their first seven games of the season, and finished at seven wins and 11 losses.
