Courtney Sarault and Mikael Kingsbury are grand marshals of 2026 Calgary Stampede parade

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec and Canadian Olympic silver medalist Courtney Sarault of Moncton, New Brunswick were grand marshals for the 2026 Calgary Stampede on Friday. Kingsbury and Sarault shined for Canada at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Kingsbury won a gold medal for Canada in Milan in men’s dual moguls, an event which was making its Olympic debut. It was his second career Olympic gold medal. Kingsbury previously won the gold medal in moguls at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

Sarault won four medals for Canada in Milan in short track speed skating. The Olympic silver medals came in the women’s 1000 metres and the mixed 2000 metre relay. The Olympic bronze medals came in the women’s 500 metres and the women’s 3000 metre relay.

Like Sarault, Kingsbury was a multi-medalist for Canada at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. He also won a silver medal for Canada in men’s moguls. Overall, Kingsbury has won five Olympic medals for Canada. He also won silver medals for Canada in men’s moguls at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Following the freestyle skiing season of 2026, Kingsbury, who was nicknamed the G.O.A.T.,  retired at the age of 33.
