Kyle Lucas leads after day one in tie down roping at 2026 Calgary Stampede

Kyle Lucas of Corsairs, Alberta had the fastest tie down roping time at the 2026 Calgary Stampede on Friday. Lucas had a time of 7.8 seconds and was tied with Haven Meged of Miles City, Montana.

Lucas and Meged both had a payout of $6250.00. Bryce Derrer of Portales, New Mexico was in third place with a time of 8.1 seconds and won $4500.00.

Four more Canadians finished in the top three. In the ladies breakaway roping, Jenna Dallyn of Nanton, Alberta and Bobbi Henderson of Alix, Alberta had a second place tie with 3.4 seconds and won $5000 each. The fastest ladies breakaway roper on Friday was Payton Scalzo of Stephanville, Texas, who had a time of 2.6 seconds and won $7000. In the ladies barrel racing, Taylor Manning of Ponoka, Alberta was in second place with a time of 17.01 seconds, and Jayden Wilson of Gliechen, Alberta was in third place with a time of 17.32 seconds. Manning won $5500 and Wilson won $4500. Heidi Gunderson of Murdock, Minnesota had the fastest time of 16.94 seconds and won $7000.

In the chuckwagon racing, the fastest driver in the Rangeland Derby on Friday was Jamie Laboucane of St. Walburg, Saskatchewan. Laboucane, who is being sponsored by the Panorama Advisory Group, had a time of 1:10.98.
