Corrine Schroeder collects third career PWHL shutout

New York Sirens goaltender Corrine Schroeder of Elm Creek, Manitoba collected her third career Professional Women’s Hockey League shutout on Sunday. She accomplished the feat in a 1-0 Sirens win over the Toronto Sceptres at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Schroder made 28 saves overall. She made three saves in the first period, 17 saves in the second period, seven saves in the third period and one save in overtime.

New York’s lone goal was an all-Canadian goal. Jessie Eldridge of Barrie, Ontario scored from Canadian Olympic gold medalist Sarah Fillier of Georgetown, Ontario and defenseman Jamie Bourbonnais of Mississauga, Ontario. Fillier won a gold medal for Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

This season, Schroeder has a record of five wins and two losses with a goals against average of 2.40 and a save percentage of .930. Schroeder now has two shutouts this season. The first came on January 4 in a 5-0 Sirens win over the Minnesota Frost. Schroeder also had one shutout last season. That came in a 4-0 New York win over Toronto in the very first PWHL game on New Year’s Day, 2024.

With the win, the Sirens improved to a record of five wins and four losses for 14 points. They are tied with the Ottawa Charge for third place.
