
Edmonton Oilers centre Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario won his sixth National Hockey League Art Ross Trophy on Thursday. The trophy is presented to the NHL regular season leader in points.
During the 2025-26 NHL regular season, McDavid had a NHL high 138 points. He had 48 goals and also led the NHL with 90 assists.
McDavid won his first Art Ross Trophy in 2016-17. That season he had 100 points (30 goals and 70 assists). McDavid’s other Art Ross Trophies came in 2017-18 (41 goals and 67 assists for 107 points), in 2020-21 (33 goals and 72 assists for 105 points), in 2021-22 (44 goals and 79 assists for 123 points) and in 2022-23 (64 goals and 89 assists for 153 points).
In 2025-26, McDavid was also a +17 with 44 penalty minutes, 54 power-play points, two shorthanded points, four game-winning goals, 306 shots on goal, 457 faceoff wins, 30 blocked shots, 40 hits, 32 takeaways and 134 giveaways.
McDavid’s first shorthanded point was a shorthanded assist on a goal by Leon Draisaitl into an empty net to close out the scoring with one minute and 13 seconds left in the third period in a 3-1 Oilers win over the Vancouver Canucks on October 11. McDavid’s second shorthanded point was a shorthanded goal and came on an all-Canadian goal in a 3-1 Oilers win over the Boston Bruins on December 18, 2025. McDavid scored from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby, British Columbia and defenseman Darnell Nurse of Hamilton, Ontario at 1:41 of the third period to close out the scoring.
As a team, the Oilers finished in second place in the Pacific Division with 93 points. They had a record of 41 regulation losses, 30 regulation losses and 11 losses in extra time. The Oilers were two points back of the Pacific Division leading Vegas Golden Knights and will play the Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the postseason starting on Monday.
