
Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario was named the National Hockey League First Star of the Week for the week from March 28-April 3. In four games, all Oilers wins, McDavid had five goals and three assists for eight points.
McDavid began the week with one goal against the Arizona Coyotes in a 6-1 Oilers win on March 28. That was followed by a two-point game (one goal and one assist) against the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-3 Oilers win on March 30. McDavid then scored twice including the overtime winner against the St. Louis Blues in a 6-5 Oilers win on April 1, and then had one goal and two assists for three points on April 3, in a 6-1 Oilers win over the Anaheim Ducks. Once again, McDavid scored the game-winning goal.
Also this past week, McDavid was a +7 with two penalty minutes, one power play goal, 29 shots on goal, one hit, and 23 faceoff wins. On the season, McDavid once again leads the NHL in points with 105. He has 40 goals, 65 assists, is a +21 with 41 penalty minutes, 39 power-play points, eight game-winning goals, one shorthanded point, 278 shots on goal, 474 faceoff wins, 23 blocked shots, 63 hits, 58 takeaways, and 64 giveaways.
The Oilers are currently third in the Pacific Division with 85 points. They are six points back of the Calgary Flames and one point back of the Los Angeles Kings.
