St. Louis Blues goaltender Joel Hofer of Winnipeg, Manitoba recorded his ninth National Hockey League shutout on Friday. He accomplished the feat in a 4-0 Blues win over the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Hofer made 25 saves in the game. He made seven saves in the first period, 10 saves in the second period, and eight saves in the third period. Canadians Wyatt Johnston of Toronto, Ontario and Tyler Seguin of Brampton, Ontario led the Stars with four shots on goal each.

In a rare feat, Hofer got on the scoreboard too. He had the secondary assist on the Blues’s fourth goal of the game by Pius Suter to close out the scoring. The goal came with two minutes and eight seconds left in the third period.

A Canadian scored the game-winning goal for the Blues. In his first game with the Blues since being traded from the Anaheim Ducks on June 26, McTavish of Carp, Ontario scored from defenseman Colton Parayko of St. Albert, Alberta and Jimmy Snuggerud at 1:34 of the first period.

This was the Blues’s first game of the season. Hofer became the second Canadian goaltender to have a shutout in 2026-27. He joined New York Rangers goaltender Dylan Garand of Victoria, British Columbia.
