Heading into the first round series between the Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers, the expectation was the series from Toronto might be low scoring. Well, over the last two games, Flyers goaltender Carter Hart of Edmonton, Alberta has not given up a single goal as the Flyers won 1-0 in game three of the series on Sunday, and then 2-0 in game four of the series on Tuesday. With the wins, the Flyers lead the Canadiens three games to one in their best out of seven series.

In the process, Hart has become the second-youngest goaltender in Stanley Cup Playoff history to record back-to-back shutouts at 22 years and five days old. The record belongs to Harry Lumley of Owen Sound, Ontario, who had back-to-back shutouts for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first two games of the 1945 Stanley Cup Finals. Lumley backstopped the Maple Leafs to a 1-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings on April 6, and then a 2-0 win over the Red Wings on April 8, at Olympia Stadium in Michigan. At the time of the second shutout, Lumley was only 18 years and 161 days old.

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price of Vancouver, British Columbia also has a shutout in the series against the Flyers. That came on Friday in a 5-0 Montreal win.
