
The 2025 Winter X Games completed in Aspen, Colorado on Sunday, with Canada coming away with four medals. In the women’s ski superpipe, Canadian Olympic gold medalist Cassie Sharpe of Calgary, Alberta won the gold medal and Amy Fraser of Halifax, Nova Scotia won the bronze medal. In the women’s slopestyle skiing, Olivia Asselin of Quebec City, Quebec won the silver medal, and in the men’s slopestyle snowboarding, Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Mark McMorris of Regina, Saskatchewan won the silver medal.
Sharpe posted a winning score of 88.33 points. Fanghui Li of China won the silver medal with a score of 86.66 points. Fraser won the bronze medal with a score of 84.66 points. Sharpe reached the podium by 20.33 points and Fraser reached the podium by 16.66 points. Zoe Atkin of Great Britain was in fourth place with 68 points. This was Sharpe’s sixth career Winter X Games medal, and third gold medal. She previously won gold in women’s ski superpipe in Oslo in 2016 and Aspen in 2019. This was Fraser’s second straight bronze medal after finishing third in the women’s ski superpipe last year.
Asselin posted a second place score of 92.66 points. Tess Ledeux of France won the gold medal with a score of 95 points. Anni Karava of Finland won the bronze medal with a score of 90.66 points. Asselin reached the podium by four points over fellow Canadian Megan Oldham of Newmarket, Ontario, who finished in fourth place with 88.66 points.
McMorris posted a score of 90.33 points. Red Gerard of the United States won the gold medal with 92.66 points, and Taiga Hasegawa of Japan won the bronze medal with 81 points. McMorris reached the podium by 44 points. Marcus Kleveland of Norway finished in fourth place with 46.33 points. McMorris has now won 24 Winter X Games medals (11 gold medals, 10 silver medals and three bronze medals). It is the most Winter X Games medals by a single athlete ever.
Sharpe won Olympic gold in women’s halfpipe skiing at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. McMorris won Olympic bronze in men’s slopestyle skiing at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, and at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. The Winter X Games medals will give Sharpe, Asselin, McMorris and Fraser confidence as they prepare for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
