Team Canada won eight medals in Olympic events at the 2020 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado this past weekend. However unlike years past, competitors were just given a placement based on overall impression instead of an actual score. At times the event looked more like the Great British Baking Show than a high profile sporting competition.

In women’s slopestyle snowboarding on Saturday, Canadian Olympic silver medalist Laurie Blouin of Quebec City, Quebec won the silver medal. Jamie Anderson of the United States won the gold medal and Kokomo Murase of Japan won the bronze medal. Blouin won the silver medal in women’s slopestyle snowboarding at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

In the men’s slopestyle skiing on Saturday, Evan McEachran of Oakville, Ontario won the silver medal. He was behind gold medalist Colby Stevenson of the United States and ahead of bronze medalist Fabian Boesch of Switzerland.

In the men’s slopestyle snowboarding on Saturday, Darcy Sharpe of Comox, British Columbia won the gold medal. He was ahead of silver medalist Mons Roisland of Norway and bronze medalist Redmond Gerard of the United States.

In the women’s superpipe skiing on Saturday, Rachael Karker of Guelph, Ontario won the silver medal and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Cassie Sharpe of Calgary, Alberta won the bronze medal. Sharpe won the gold medal for Canada in women’s halfpipe at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. The gold medalist in the women’s superpipe skiing at the 2020 Winter X Games was Kelly Sildaru of Estonia.

In the men’s big air snowboarding on Saturday, Canadian Olympic silver medalist Max Parrot of Cowansville, Quebec won the gold medal and two-time Olympic bronze medalist Mark McMorris of Regina, Saskatchewan won the silver medal. Sven Thorgren of Sweden won the bronze medal. Parrot won the silver medal for Canada in men’s slopestyle snowboarding at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang and McMorris won the bronze medal in men’s slopestyle snowboarding at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

Also in men’s superipe skiing on Sunday, Brendan MacKay of Calgary, Alberta won the bronze medal behind gold medalist Alex Ferreira of the United States and Aaron Blunck of the United States. The medals for Blouin, McEachran, Darcy Sharpe, Cassie Sharpe, Karker, Parrot, McMorris and MacKay will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
