Team Canada has won the 2025 Four Nations Faceoff at Toronto Dominion Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. On Thursday, Canada defeated the United States 3-2 on an overtime winner by Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario.

McDavid found himself open in the slot on a night when both teams could not generate much space. Toronto Maple Leafs right winger Mitch Marner of Markham, Ontario and Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar of Calgary, Alberta picked up the assists at 8:18 of extra time.

Marner led Canada in scoring as he had two assists. He set up Florida Panthers centre Sam Bennett of Holland Landing, Ontario with the game-tying goal with six minutes left in the second period to tie the game at two. The other Canadian goal scorer was Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The other Canadian star on Thursday was St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington of Richmond Hill. He received his fair share of criticism (and deservedly so) not only for his inconsistent play in the tournament but in the first two thirds of the 2024-25 National Hockey League regular season. The Four Nations Faceoff exceeded expectations and became more than just a precursor for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
