
Team Canada finished off Group A play on Monday at the 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Hockey Championships in Ceske Budejovice, Czechia with a dominant 7-1 win over Czechia. With the win, Canada improved to a record of three wins and one loss. They are in second place in the group, behind the United States, who at three wins and zero losses.
Four Canadians had multi-point games. They were three-time Canadian Olympic gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin of Quebec City, Quebec (two goals), Kristin O’Neill of Oakville, Ontario (two goals), Canadian Olympic gold medalist Erin Ambrose of Keswick, Ontario (two assists), and two-time Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jocelyne Larocque of Ste. Anne, Manitoba (two assists). The other three Canadian goal scorers were Jennifer Gardiner of Surrey, British Columbia, Daryl Watts of Toronto, Ontario, and defenseman Sophie Jaques of Toronto.
Poulin won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Larocque won a gold medal at the the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Ambrose won a gold medal at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. The quarterfinals will take place on Thursday.
