Canada reaches semifinals of Women’s 3×3 Basketball Championships in Antwerp

Team Canada is in the semifinals of the 2022 Women’s 3×3 Basketball Championships in Antwerp, Belgium on Sunday. The Canadian team of Michelle Plouffe of Edmonton, Alberta, Katherine Plouffe of Edmonton, Alberta, Kacie Bosch of Lethbridge, and Paige Crozon of Humboldt, Saskatchewan beat Germany 22-13 in the round of 16, and then the United States 14-10 in the quarterfinals.

In the round of 16, Canada beat a German squad that was seeded first when the tournament began. However on Saturday, Germany did not play anything like a top team. They turned the basketball over seven times and were 0 for 7 from two-point range. Michelle Plouffe led Canada with nine points, while Katherine Plouffe and Crozon had five points each, and Bosch had three points. Bosch led Canada with five rebounds, while Michelle Plouffe led Canada with two two-point shots. Meanwhile both Plouffe sisters led Canada with three key assists each.

In the quarterfinals, Katherine Plouffe led Canada with seven points. Michelle Plouffe had four points and Kacie Bosch had three points. Crozon led Canada with six rebounds and Michelle Plouffe led Canada with three key assists and two two-point shots.

Canada will play Lithuania in one semifinal. France will play China in the other semifinal.
