
Cam Talbot of Caledonia, Ontario recorded his 32nd National Hockey League career shutout on Saturday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Detroit Red Wings win over the Nashville Predators at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
Talbot made 42 saves overall for the shutout. He made 16 saves in the first period, 12 saves in the second period, and 18 saves in the third period. Roman Josi led the Predators with nine shots on goal. The three Red Wings to score were J.T. Compher, Andrew Copp and Dylan Larkin.
Of Talbot’s 32 NHL shutouts, this was his first with the Red Wings. One dozen have come with the Edmonton Oilers, eight have come with the New York Rangers, five have been with the Minnesota Wild, three have been with the Los Angeles Kings, two have been with the Calgary Flames, and one has been with the Ottawa Senators.
So far this season, Talbot has a record of one win and zero losses in two games with Detroit. He has a goals against average of 1.27 and a save percentage of .964. In his only other appearance this season, Talbot gave up two goals in relief for Ville Husso in a 6-3 Red Wings loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
With the win, the Red Wings have a record of one win and one loss. They are in fifth place in the Atlantic Division, and two points back of the division leaders–Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens.
