
Calgary, Alberta has been selected as the host city for the 2026 World Women’s Curling Championship according to the Canadian Press on Wednesday. This will be the second time Calgary will have hosted the tournament as Markin MacPhail Centre was the host arena in 2021. Calgary has hosted the World Men’s Curling Championship twice. The first time in 1964 and the second time in 2021.
Markin MacPhail Centre most recently hosted the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The tournament was won by skip Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario.
The 2025 World Women’s Curling Championship will take place in Uijeonbu, South Korea. Team Canada will be represented by the winner of the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts which will take place in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The 2026 Canadian representative in Calgary will be the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion which will take place in Mississauga, Ontario.
The 2025 World Men’s Curling Championship is in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The winner of the 2025 Montana’s Brier in Kelowna, British Columbia will represent Team Canada.
Canada is also hosting the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Team Canada is represented by Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta and Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
Meanwhile, the 2025 World Wheelchair Curling Championships and 2025 World Mixed Doubles Wheelchair Curling Championship will be in Stevenson, Scotland. Jon Thurston of Dunsford, Ontario is skipping Team Canada in the four person event, while the Canadian mixed doubles wheelchair team will be comprised of Ina Forrest of Spallumcheen, British Columbia and Mark Ideson of Parry Sound, Ontario.
