According to the Canadian Press on Wednesday, Calgary will host the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. This will be the fourth time that Calgary will have the hosted the Canadian National Women’s Curling Championship. They were the prior host in 1970, 1995, and 2021.
The 1970 Canadian National Women’s Curling Championship at the time was known as the Canadian Ladies Curling Association Championship and took place at the Stampede Corral. It was won by Dorenda Schoenhals of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This was the second of six consecutive Canadian National Women’s Curling Championship titles for Saskatchewan, as Joyce McKee of Asquith won in 1969 in Fort William, Ontario, and Vera Pezer of Melfort skipped Saskatchewan to three straight titles from 1971 to 1973, before Emily Farnham of Tisdale won in 1974 in Victoria.
The 1995 Scott Tournament of Hearts took place at Max Bell Arena. Connie Laliberte of Winnipeg, Manitoba won her third title as she previously won in 1984 in Charlottetown and in 1992 in Halifax. The 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts was won by Kerri Einarson of Selkirk, Manitoba. It was the second of three straight Canadian National Women’s Curling Championship titles for Einarson, as she also won in 2020 in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, and in 2022 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, like the 2024 Scotties Tournament of Hearts will take place at Canada Olympic Park.
