Caitlin Nash and Natalie Corless win Canada’s first World Cup medal in women’s doubles luge

For the first time ever, Canada has won a World Cup medal in women’s doubles luge. In Park City, Utah on Saturday, the Canadian team of Caitlin Nash of Whistler, British Columbia and Natalie Corless of New Westminster, British Columbia won the bronze medal in a World Cup event in Park City, Utah.

Nash and Corless had a time of 1:28.955. Andrea Votter and Marian Oberhofer of Italy won the gold medal with a time of 1:28.302. Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal of Germany won the silver medal with a time of 1:28.905. Nash and Cortless earned a medal by only 0.014 seconds. Summer Britcher and Emily Sweeney of the United States finished in fourth place with a time of 1:28.969.

In the Women’s Doubles Luge World Cup standings, Nash and Corless are in eighth place with 170 points. Votter and Oberhofer are the World Cup leaders with 440 points.

Nash and Corless actually represented Canada in a men’s doubles luge World Cup in Whistler, British Columbia in 2019. This is an historic time in women’s doubles luge. That is because the event will make its Olympic debut at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. Men’s doubles luge made its Olympic debut at the 1964 Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck.
