
British Columbia was victorious in the two aerials events on Sunday in the first day of competition at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island. In the female aerials event, Maya Mikkelsen of Whistler, British Columbia won the gold medal, while in the male aerials event, Alexander Mysko of Whistler won gold.
Mikkelsen had a score of 106.92 points. Sina Clegg of Alberta won the silver medal with a score of 103.3 points. Ashley Koehler of Quebec won the bronze medal with a score of 103.05 points. Mikkelsen earned a medal by 4.49 points over Citrine Boychuk of Alberta, who had a score of 102.43 points and finished in fourth place.
Mysko had a score of 121.55 points. Maximus Gryspeerdt of Ontario won the silver medal with a score of 113.31 points. Quinn Dawson of British Columbia won the bronze medal with a score of 109.78 points. Mysko reached the podium by 12.44 points over Brian Burnyeat of Alberta, who had a fourth place score of 109.11 points.
There was one other event which awarded medals on Sunday. That was in table tennis as Quebec beat Ontario 11-8, 8-11, 11-5, 10-12, 11-9 in an exciting gold medal match in mixed doubles. The Quebec team comprised of Simeon Martin of Montreal and Alice Provencher of Drummondville. British Columbia won the bronze medal.
