Redblacks sign wide receiver Lemar Durant

According to 3downnation.com on Friday, the Ottawa Redblacks signed wide receiver Lemar Durant of Vancouver, British Columbia. The Redblacks become the fourth Canadian Football League team Durant has played for following the the Calgary Stampeders (2015 to 2018), the British Columbia Lions (2019 and 2021), and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2022),

In 11 games this past season, Durant had 12 catches for 112 yards and one touchdown. For his career, Durant has 195 catches for 2465 yards and 14 touchdowns in 85 games.

The Tiger-Cats did sign two more Canadians this past week in addition to wide receiver Llevi Noel of Toronto, Ontario, which we previously reported on Thursday. They came to terms with defensive end Kwaku Boateng of Milton, Ontario and linebacker Fraser Sopik of Toronto.

Boateng played the last four seasons with Edmonton from 2017 to 2019 and again in 2021. During the 2021 regular season, he had 15 defensive tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble in 12 games played. In his career, Boateng has 82 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, 25 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Sopik played the last three seasons with the Calgary Stampeders. In 2022, he had 14 defensive tackles, seven special teams tackles. two sacks and one forced fumble. In 44 games, Sopik had 31 defensive tackles, 30 special teams tackles, four sacks and thee forced fumbles.
