Brayden Point scores second overtime winner of 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Tampa Bay Lightning are off to the second round of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and it was quite the first round for Brayden Point of Calgary, Alberta. In game one of the series, a 3-2 Tampa Bay win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, Point scored the game winning goal in the fourth longest game in National Hockey League history (into the fifth overtime).

Then on Wednesday in Toronto, in game five of the series, Point scored the series-clinching goal once again in overtime. This time it came in a 5-4 Tampa Bay win, as Nikita Kucherov picked up the lone assist at 5:12 of the extra period. Point had three points in the contest, as he also notched two third period assists on goals by Anthony Cirelli of Etobicoke, Ontario, and Kevin Shattenkirk. Cirelli also had a multi-point game for the Lightning, as he had one goal and one assist for two points. With the win, the Lightning beat the Blue Jackets in the best out of seven series four games to one.

In other action involving all-American teams on Wednesday, three more Canadians registered a multi-point game. Canadian Olympic gold medalist Patrice Bergeron of L’Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec had one goal and one assist as the Boston Bruins beat the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 in Toronto. With the win, the Bruins beat the Hurricanes four games to one in the best out of seven series. Bergeron won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. 

Also in Edmonton, the Colorado Avalanche steamrolled past the Arizona Coyotes with a convincing 7-1 victory. Nathan MacKinnon of Springhill, Nova Scotia led Colorado in scoring with four points (two goals and two assists). Meanwhile, Nazem Kadri of London, Ontario scored twice. The Avalanche knocked out the Coyotes with the victory, as they won the series four games to one.
