Blues trade Jordan Kyrou to Capitals for Connor McMichael

The St. Louis Blues traded right winger Jordan Kyrou of Toronto, Ontario to the Washington Capitals for centre Connor McMichael of Ajax, Ontario according to Rogers Sportsnet on Tuesday. In addition to McMichael, the Blues are receiving Swedish prospect Milton Gastrin and a first round pick (16th overall) in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Kyrou is joining his second National Hockey League team after eight seasons with the Blues. In 72 games with the Blues in 2025-26, Kyrou had 18 goals and 28 assists for 46 points. He was a -5 with eight penalty minutes, 14 power-play points, two game-winning goals, 173 shots on goal, three faceoff wins, 28 blocked shots, 14 hits, 22 takeaways and 53 giveaways.

Kyrou’s first game-winning goal of 2025-26 came in a 5-1 Blues win over the Seattle Kraken on February 26, 2026. Kyrou scored from defenseman Colton Parayko of St. Albert, Alberta and Pavel Buchnevich at 1:12 of the second period to put the Blues up 2-1 at the time. Kyrou’s second game-winning goal of 2025-26 came in a 4-0 Blues shutout win over the Anaheim Ducks on March 8. Kyrou scored the opening goal at 4:22 of the second period from Jake Neighbours of Calgary, Alberta and defenseman Cam Fowler.

In 2021-22, Kyrou was a NHL All-Star. That year he had 27 goals and 48 assists for 75 points in 74 games. He was a +10 with 20 penalty minutes, 19 power-play points, one shorthanded point, 188 shots on goal, six faceoff wins, 23 blocked shots, six hits, 36 takeaways, and 32 giveaways.

McMichael is joining his second NHL team after six seasons with the Capitals. In 78 games with the Capitals in 2025-26, McMichael had 14 goals and 32 assists for 46 points. He was a +8 with 30 penalty minutes, five power-play points, five game-winning goals, 142 shots on goal, one shorthanded point, 142 shots on goal, 265 faceoff wins, 45 blocked shots, 45 hits,  29 takeaways, and 56 giveaways.

McMichael’s shorthanded point came in a 6-2 Capitals win over the Buffalo Sabres on April 4, 2026. McMichael assisted on a goal by Tom Wilson of Toronto to complete the scoring at 8:55 of the third period.
