History was made in the National Basketball Association on Tuesday. Early in the first quarter, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors became the NBA all-time leader in three-point shots made with 2974 as the Warriors defeated the New York Knicks 105-96 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Curry passed the record previously held by Ray Allen.

In what will be probably be the biggest shot made all year, there were a couple of intriguing Canadian connections. Remember, even though Stephen Curry was born in Akron, Ohio, he spent a significant amount of time in his childhood in Toronto, as his father Del Curry played with the Toronto Raptors from 1999 to 2002.

The other Canadian connection to the three-point shot on Tuesday came from the player who passed the basketball to Curry. It was none other than Toronto’s Andrew Wiggins.

Wiggins had three assists on the night. One could argue that this helper could have been the most memorable when it comes to historical significance in his NBA career. Wiggins averages 1.8 assists per game, and has 50 assists in 28 games so far this season for the Warriors.

With the win, the Warriors improved to a record of 23 wins and five losses. They lead the Phoenix Suns by half a game.
