Adam Fantilli records first career NHL hat trick

Columbus Blue Jackets centre Adam Fantilli of Nobleton, Ontario recorded his first career National Hockey League hat trick on Wednesday. He accomplished the feat in a 5-1 Blue Jackets win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario.

Fantilli scored one goal in each period. He opened the scoring with four minutes and 20 seconds left in the first period. He scored a shorthanded goal from defenseman Ivan Provorov and Mathieu Olivier. Fantilli then put the Blue Jackets up 3-0 with four minutes and 39 seconds left in the second period. Dmitri Voronkov and defenseman Zach Werenski had the assists. Then Fantilli closed out the scoring with an empty netter with seven minutes and 58 seconds left in the third period. Defenseman Dante Fabbro of Coquitlam, British Columbia and Kirill Marchenko had the assists.

In 2024-25, Fantilli has 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points in 48 games. He is a -5 with 14 penalty minutes, four power-play points, one shorthanded point, one game-winning goal, 98 shots on goal, 226 faceoff wins, 34 blocked shots, 65 hits, 15 takeaways and 52 giveaways. The game-winning goal came on October 28 in a 6-1 Blue Jackets win over the Edmonton Oilers. Fantilli scored from Cole Sillinger at 10:44 of the second period which put Columbus up 2-0 at the time.

With the win, the Blue Jackets moved into a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They have a record of 23 wins, 18 regulation losses, and seven losses in extra time for 53 points. They lead the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens by one point each for the final playoff spot.
