Zeke Thurston continues excellence at 2022 Calgary Stampede

For he third straight day, Zeke Thurston of Big Valley, Alberta posted the best score in the saddle bronc competition at the 2022 Calgary Stampede. After scores of 89.5 on Friday and 85 on Saturday, Thurston was at 89 on Sunday. The cowboy posted his latest result on the bronc Urgent Delivery. Thurston now has $16,500.00 in aggregate earnings over the last three days, and leads his nearest competitor, Kole Aschbacher of Arrowhead, Alberta by $9,000. Aschbacher had the third best result on Sunday with a score of 85.5 points.

In steer wrestling, Cody Cassidy of Donalda, Alberta is now tied for the lead in the aggregate standings alongside Will Lummus of Byhalia, Mississippi. Cassidy and Lummus both have earned $10,500.00 so far. Cassidy posted a time of 4.3 seconds on Sunday, the second best time of the day. The fastest was Lummus at 4.1 seconds.

In bull riding, Jared Parsonage of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan is in fourth place overall in the aggregate standings with $4.5 million. Cody Covercuk of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, had the second best score on Sunday as he posted a result of 81.5 points.

In tie-down roping, Logan Bird of Nanton, Alberta had the third best result on Sunday with a time of 7.6 seconds. He is now in second place in the overall standings with $10,000. The leader is Caleb Smidt of Bellville, Texas, who has earned $11,500 to date.

In ladies barrel racing, Shelby Spielman of Ponoka, Alberta was the top Canadian on Sunday in second place with 17.52 seconds. Bertina Olafson of Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan is the top Canadian in the aggregate standings. She is in fourth place with $7,000. Pool A wraps up on Monday.

In the Rangeland Derby, Obrey Motowylo of Hoadley, Alberta posted the best time on Sunday of 1:13.17. The aggregate leader is Chance Bensmiller of Dewberry, Alberta, with a three-day chuckwagon racing time of 3:41.32.
