The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will face the Toronto Argonauts in the 111th Grey Cup from BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia on November 17. On Saturday, the Blue Bombers beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 38-22 in the Western Final, and the Argonauts beat the Montreal Alouettes 30-28 in the Eastern Final.
The big story in the Eastern Final was the fact the Argonauts overcame adversity. Argonauts quarterback Chad Kelly, who is the nephew of Jim Kelly, the former star quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, broke his leg and ankle in the second half. The Argonauts had to rely on backup quarterback Nick Arbuckle, and St. Catharines, Ontario raised kicker Lirim Hajrullahu, who kicked a key fourth quarter field goal, which put the Argonauts up 30-22 at the time.
The Blue Bombers received two touchdowns from Canadians in their win. Wide receiver Nic Demski of Winnipeg, Manitoba had a 13-yard touchdown catch from Zach Collaros, while running back Brady Oliveira had a three-yard touchdown run. Demski put the Blue Bombers up 21-6 with three minutes and 48 seconds into the second half, while Oliveira put the Blue Bombers up 38-16 with 11 minutes and 32 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Oliveira had 20 carries for 119 rushing yards and two catches for 22 receiving yards. Demski had eight catches for 49 receiving yards.
