The Vancouver Canucks are in the final eight of the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs. On Friday, they became the only Canadian team left in the playoffs when they eliminated the St. Louis Blues in six games of the first round at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Canucks defeated the Blues 6-2 to win the best out of seven series four games to two. The series win could be considered a major surprise as the Canucks beat the reigning Stanley Cup champions. The Blues won the 2019 Stanley Cup Final as they beat the Boston Bruins in seven games, and were the best team in the Western Conference during the 2019-20 regular season.

In game six on Friday, the Canucks were led in scoring by Brandon Sutter of Red Deer, Alberta, who had three assists. There was a second Canadian to record a multi-point game for the Canucks, as Jay Beagle of Calgary, Alberta, had one goal and one assist for two points. Other Canucks with a multi-point game were Tyler Motte (two goals), and Elias Pettersson (two assists). The other Canucks goal scorers were Troy Stecher of Richmond, British Columbia, Brock Boeser, and Antoine Roussel.

The Canucks will play the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference semi-finals starting Sunday. The series can simply be known as the Battle of the Vees.
