According to J.J. Adams of The Province on Thursday, BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia will host the 2024 Grey Cup. This will be the 17th time that Vancouver will have hosted the Grey Cup. Empire Stadium was the host facility seven times for the Grey Cup in 1955, 1958, 1960, 1963, 1966, 1971 and 1974. This will be the 10th Grey Cup at BC Place as the facility has hosted the Grey Cup before in 1983, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1994, 1999, 2005, 2011 and 2014.
The fact that the Canadian Football League chose Vancouver over Winnipeg is interesting. Winnipeg last hosted the Grey Cup in 2015, but its team at the moment is the best in the entire CFL. They had the best record in the 2022 regular season at 15 wins and three losses, and have won the last two Grey Cups. They beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-12 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta in 2019, and then the Tiger-Cats again 33-25 in 2021 at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.
The 2022 Grey Cup will be played at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan. The 2023 Grey Cup will be played at Tim Hortons Field.
The 2022 CFL Playoffs get underway on Sunday. BC Place will host the Western Semifinal this year between the British Columbia Lions and Calgary Stampeders. The Eastern Semifinal will be between the Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
