Tyson Jost records first NHL career hat trick

Tyson Jost of St. Albert, Alberta recorded his first National Hockey League career hat trick on Saturday. Jost scored three goals in a convincing 6-2 Colorado Avalanche win over the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

Jost scored his first goal of the game to open the scoring at 3:09 of the first period. He scored from Samuel Girard of Roberval, Quebec and Colin Wilson.

Jost then put the Lightning up 2-1 with a second period goal from Wilson and J.T. Compher at 3:17 of the middle frame. Then after Gabriel Landeskog scored the game winning goal, Jost notched the hat trick at 6:06 of the second period from Compher and Wilson again. At the time, the Avalanche went up 4-1.

In eight games so far this season, Jost has four goals and one assist for five points. He is a +1 with six penalty minutes, 15 shots on goal, 11 faceoff wins, five hits, two takeaways and two giveaways.

The Avalanche currently lead the Central Division with 15 points. They have a record of seven wins and one extra time loss. Colorado is comfortably in first in fact as they have a five point lead over the second place Winnipeg Jets. Colorado’s next game is against the Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues on Monday.
