Tre Ford leads Elks to win over Argonauts to close 2024 CFL season

Tre Ford of Niagara Falls, Ontario led the Edmonton Elks to a 31-30 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Friday to close out the 2024 Canadian Football League regular season. He was one of three CFL players on winning teams to contribute to his team’s touchdowns over the last 48 hours.

Ford had a 67 yard touchdown pass to Javon Leake, a four yard touchdown pass to Eugene Lewis, and 40 yard touchdown pass to Zach Mathis. Ford completed 16 of 25 passes for 325 passing yards, and had six rushes for 81 yards. On the season, Ford completed 91 of 110 passes for 1137 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions, along with 23 rushes for 206 rushing yards.

Meanwhile in Montreal on Saturday, Nic Demski of Winnipeg, Manitoba had a nine-yard touchdown catch in a 28-27 Winnipeg Blue Bombers win over the Montreal Alouettes. Demski had four catches for 90 receiving yards in the game, and had 76 catches for 1030 receiving yards and six touchdown catches on the season. With the win, the Blue Bombers finished in first place in the West Division.

Then in Regina on Saturday, Clark Barnes of Brampton, Ontario had a 33 yard touchdown catch in a 27-12 Stampeders win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In the game, he had three catches for 90 receiving yards. On the season, Barnes has 44 catches for 590 receiving yards and four touchdown catches.
