
Toronto FC has named Robin Fraser as their new head coach according to the Canadian Press on Friday. Fraser, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, was the assistant coach for Toronto FC for five consecutive seasons from 2015 to 2019.
While as an assistant coach, Toronto FC won the 2017 MLS Cup. Toronto FC defeated the Seattle Sounders 2-0 in the championship final from Bank of Montreal Field in Toronto, Ontario on goals by Jozy Altidore and Victor Vazquez.
Toronto FC has been the third Major League Soccer franchise Fraser has been a coach for. He was previously in charge of Chivas USA during the 2011 and 2012 seasons, and the Colorado Rapids for the last five seasons from 2019 to 2023. Fraser has a MLS head coaching record of 64 wins, 83 losses and 55 draws for a winning percentage of 31.68%.
Fraser takes over from John Herdman, who resigned as Toronto FC’s head coach on November 29, 2024. According to Rogers Sportsnet, he has been allegedly accused of starting the illegal drone spying practice with the Canadian women’s soccer program. Team Canada was caught during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
This past season in MLS action. Toronto finished in 11th place in the Eastern Conference. They had a record of 11 wins, 19 losses and four draws for 37 points.
